On May long weekend I will be in Medicine Hat and I will either go to Saskatchewan to get some photos of SaskPower stuff or I might go to Oyen, Alberta to get some more shots of ATCO Electric lines.
Going to be going to Calgary for a weekend soon and I have plans to go to Cochrane, AB & Janet, AB.
Today I will be going out to the north part of lethbridge since I heard that the new steel towers on the 138kV rebuild are now put up!
Calgary Power is replacing the wooden poles on two 138kV lines that are tapped off from an already rebuilt 138kV line to a substation in the industrial area. The goal of the project is to remove all the wooden poles and put both circuits on new steel monopoles. Here is a shot of the old wooden structures and you can see the new double circuit steel monopoles laying on the ground. Here is a close up of one of the poles without the conductors on it. The one circuit is still energized so that the power keeps flowing while the electric company works.
I will post trip dates and upload dates to my blog.
