Calgary Power is replacing the wooden poles on two 138kV lines that are tapped off from an already rebuilt 138kV line to a substation in the industrial area. The goal of the project is to remove all the wooden poles and put both circuits on new steel monopoles.
Here is a shot of the old wooden structures and you can see the new double circuit steel monopoles laying on the ground.
Here is a close up of one of the poles without the conductors on it.
The one circuit is still energized so that the power keeps flowing while the electric company works.
